Hair Curling Tutorial

Ok, so I finally have posted a hair curling video tutorial per your requests.  Sorry it has taken me so long to get this bad girl up!  I will probably reattempt this again with more concise language.    Apparently I'm not the best at talking and curling my hair at the same time.   Anyways, this is just how I curl my hair.  I'm not a professional or anything like that.  I don't use any hair products because I feel like they only wear my hair down.  And you can curl your hair anytime, hence after a blow dry, after an air dry or after a couple days of not even washing!  Hopefully you can pick up a few tips and incorporate it into your styling technique!  And remember, practice makes perfect!

Thats exactly how I do my hair just smaller curling iron, less warps because my hair is shorter! But great tutorial. I never explain it well when people ask me how I do it!!

I always love your hair! My hair is shorter now, but when it's long again, I will be trying this type of curl. :)

Very nice! I own a few curling irons but I always curl my hair with a straightening iron! It works better for me for some weird reason!

PIECE OF CAKE. PEACE OF MIND.

Thank you so much!! Question though - when using your extensions, do you curl them separately or at the same time as you do your 'real' hair?

Great video!
I kept thinking though when I was watching, 'Do your arms get tired?!' I know mine would!
I never thought about how you did you hair before. I guess I thought it was naturally wavy!

This is super helpful! I've given up on curling my hair with a curling iron. Instead, I usually use my flat-iron.

I like that you release it differently though, I might have to try it!

Thanks! I could never quite figure out which way to curl it but your away from the face description was perfect! I curled my hair this morning. I am a first and second grade teacher and my students from this year and last year were like dying for my hair today. "Mrs. Stewart I LOVE your hair!" It was adorable!

This tutorial just changed my hair's life! I need to get a bigger barrel iron for more relaxed waves, but with this new technique my hair curls SO much better, even with my smaller iron. THANK YOU!

okay i used this tuturial and seriously the holding the ends when you pull out the curl makes such a difference and everyone was really impressed (espeically me because usually i can't curl my hair for my life) - so thanks!

I love the way you explain this. No more prom curls for me. Thanks!

Thank you so much - found your tutorial on pinterest and *loved* it! I paused and rewound it a dozen times and finally got it! I'm hooked on your blog now too. :)

always love your hair, thanks for sharing! just one question- when you're rolling the iron up, how are you curling the hair that's beneath it. are you releasing the hold of the barrel or pulling the iron down to the bottom of the hair strand?

Hi Katie! I just found your blog and I am in love!! I wanted to see the how to curl your hair tutorial but it won't come up... is there anyplace else (like youtube) it is posted? Also, I love your hair color, is there something special you do at the salon to get that natural/great color??

Great video, I'm gonna give it a try! I have long thin blonde hair...my question to you is, what kind of hair extensions do you use? I have been looking into it forever know but I don't want to waste my money on something I have ordered on the internet.

Gwyn Stiles said...

That was very good. I attempted several times to curl my hair on my own but I always fail because it looks horrible afterwards. So every time I needed styling, I just go to a salon to have a professional fix my hair. Though I hope eventually I'll learn.

Cadence Vaughan said...

Yeah, I'm gonna try it too. Though I hope it's easy to do as it looks. My hair definitely needs more styling.
