Secret Garden

Dress: FreePeople; Jacket: Dillards; Shoes: Old Navy; Socks: Urban Outfitters; Purse: H&M; Necklace and Earrings: Francesca's Collection; Flowers: Hollyhocks
Today when I slipped into this floral lace FreePeople dress, I felt like my own secret garden.  If you think about it, we are all our own secret gardens webbed with infinite treasures.  We spend our youth and adult lives being seeded, watered, weathered, wilted, in hopes to one day blossom into our own individuality and provide the earth with beauty and life.  Every year that passes is simply a chapter to the book we write.  It is so funny because if you can look back on each year, you may be able to pick out a theme.  I have had years where I felt that all I dealt with were struggles.  But struggles nonetheless that taught me huge life lessons.  Then I had years where relationships fell into place and life started to roll out but I was still unsure as to who I was.  I had a year where things I always wanted I now had.  I was reborn then fell away.  Whole then incomplete.  Lost then found.  At the ripe age of 26, I know there is so much more that life has to throw at me, but for the first time ever, I can honestly say, that I have blossomed.  Rather than drifting through life like a wild flower, I now see a clear picture.  I know exactly who I will be, what I will do, and where I am going.

There's a poem that says to "plant your own garden, and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone else to bring you flowers."

Your post reminds me of that amazing poem about break ups :)

check out Schlepper Chic and let me know which shoes for graduation you like!

P.s. are you wearing lipstick? or did you add it on with Picnik?

If you are actually wearing it, I want it!

i love everything about this post. recently i had a conversation with my mom about evolving relationships, etc. and she said that you eventually get to the point where you don't want to wander anymore. and that's how i feel. i've created a special, great life for myself and i'm done wandering. i agree with you completely--i know what i want. :)

I love the sweet socks/flats combo with such a sassy little dress. I'm my own secret garden? Oh man... I'm so much more excited about life, now. Seriously, not kidding. Trying to decide if I want to be a tiger lily or carnation tonight.

This was beautiful. I've been reading your blog for a little while now, and you are so inspirational. I'm pretty sure you're a Christian because the joy of the Lord just radiates from you. Anyway, I added your blog button on my blog, not because I want you to add mine, but because I hope others will find you and witness God's love through you. Thanks for all your lovely thoughts and posts! xo

That's a great perspective! I'm glad you feel that you've blossomed. That is a huge deal to me. I know I haven't blossomed yet, but I don't know. I think, in terms of flower references, I think we never really stop blooming. Or maybe be do bloom, and then the experiences we have make us stronger flowers.
Wow, that kind of silly to say!
But hopefully you know what I mean!
