It's Hot Outside

Arizona runs in my blood.  It's where I was born and raised.  I feel at one with the mountains, the cactus, the watercolor sunsets.  I've lived here my whole life, and I know that sounds boring.  But it is my home.  No matter where I go, I'll always come back.  Unless I ever move to California, it might tempt me to stay.  For eight months out of the year, the weather is absolutely perfect.  For the other four months out of the year?  Let's discuss.  Even though I've lived here my whole life, every year, I forget the feeling of how hot it actually gets. I always say, "Oh, I can totally put up with the dry heat."  Ugh.  I can put up with it, I'm forced to.  But oh.em.cow.  The word "hot" doesn't even begin to describe it.  Maybe we could go with,  firey - blazing - baking - scorching - blistering - searing - sizzling - broiling - molten hot.  Yes, those will do much better.  But you will have to use them all at once.  Because it's probably the only way to describe it.  Ok, it's not.  But you get the jist, right?

I spent a summer in Scottsdale when I was a teenager and I don't know how you handle the heat! I almost passed out from heat stroke three times!! But, I agree with you - it is an absolutely beautiful place. :)

Yeah there are times where I think I could move to AZ I love the heat so much, but then I remember what it's like in summer and realize that won't work for me haha. I'm from so cal and it really is almost the perfect place to live :) I plan on moving back there soon. (In Portland now, yucky)

Love how you knotted your skirt like that!!

I'm from Colorado and it can get hot and dry here in the summer. A few years ago, I visited AZ for the first time in the middle of July. I was anticipating hot weather, but what I didn't anticipate was the ROUND THE CLOCK SCORCHING HEAT. In Colorado, it's 100 during the day, but cools down to the 70's at night. In AZ, I noticed, it would be 114 in the noon hour and cool down to 110 in the afternoon. Woof! I didn't mind though.

I love your skirt--so very pretty!

ummm I think this outfit scores a perfect ten from me! it's sooo free people inspired it's KILLING me... My best friend recently moved to AZ, so she always tells me I should be thankful that the Inland Empire (CA) isn't nearly as hot...I tell her to shut up because at least she has air conditioner, I do not. makes us even, yes? Hope you stay cool!

You look stunning Katie! I love the outfit!
And I TOTALLY know what you mean about the heat. I'd rather take on dry heat than humidity any day. Or a real winter. We moved to northern Utah close to a year ago and I thought I was going to die. Freeze to death. Spin out and wreck from driving on ice. You name it. I was sure it was going to happen to me.
Because I was used to the heat. And I miss it :)

Christi said...

I just returned from Phoenix 3 days ago and miss it! I will take that heat over humidity any day as long as I have a pool!

Wishing I was having your hot weather. Rained heavly here in San Jose, CA yesterday! UGH.

I have those booties as well, don't u just love em!

Sara Shoemaker said...

I grew up there as well and I miss it SO BADLY. We're going there this weekend though and I'm afraid I've been spoiled by the 75 degree summer we've been having in Idaho... I might die.

In other words, this outfit is so Great! have you ever thought about sending some of your blog pictures to a modeling agency? Cause you should.

I moved to Dallas from Scottsdale five years ago and there's not a day that goes by that I don't want to get back! Give me 110 and dry vs. 100 and 50% humidity any day! I always tell people that the heat "back home" is like opening an oven door set to 400 degrees-it slaps you in the face but at least you don't sweat the second you walk outside :)

I love how the yellow purse really gives the rest of the outfit a bit of punch! And the shoes? {swoon}

I remember when we headed to AZ (while I lived in Vegas, road trip!) and was warmed about their heat. IT was miserable!! I dispise humidity and would rather have that* than the blisteringly hott heat of AZ.

What color is your nailpolish?? Care to share?

LOVE the boho vibe you put together with your outfit and hair!

I live in West Texas and have about the same issue with the oppressive heat, albeit we're usually about 5 degrees cooler, I don't know that I'll ever get used to it.

Never been to AZ, but I definitely want to visit.
The hot weather doesn't sound like fun! I'm experiencing hot weather visiting family in Alabama. Wonder if it's much different from there? Let's see. Hot here, hot there...not much different!

Aww I used to live in Yuma, Arizona!! I don't remember livinggg there that well, but we go back and visit a lot. I've lived everywhere. Growing up we always moved every two years, because my dad was in the marine corps. it's not boring at all that you've lived there your whole life! it's a blessing. it's what was meant for you and makes you enjoy the simple things the way you do :)

Love.

LOVE you're whole look here. gorgeous as always.

as a girl from south FL, the heat can really get a girl. I know it's not dry heart - I don't know which is worse... but around july- i need to literally be in a pool or ocean to be at ease. (:
