The Reason I Survive

Well, I am surviving this summer, the heat, the flames, the monsoons, the 4,000 feet tall hoboobs AKA dust storms, and all.  Arizona is kinda dirty right now.  If you take out the fact that everyone is sweating their fannies off, the weather has been a little insane.  Hubby says it's a full time job keeping our backyard clean.  I say it's a full time job watching him keep it clean.  Hey, I'm busy too.  Like, spray painting picture frames turquoise and figuring out the exact way our new throw blanket should be placed across our bed.  But seriously.  Husband is cah-razy around the house because he can do, and fix, anything and everything by himself.  Sometimes I don't know what worries me more, the tasks at hand, or hubby tackling the tasks at hand.  For example, we had a bee hive between the wood panels of our jacuzzi.  My instinct was to call the exterminator.  Husband's instinct was to grab a roll of paper towels and matches, and smoke those honey bees out.  No not like that.  Apparently there's science behind it.  Hubby said he saw it on one of those survival shows and that it is pretty much an ancient Aboriginal trick.  Not quite sure if the Aborigines had paper towels back then, but I'll go with it.  Anyways, to my disbelief, he successfully removed the hive without taking any stings to the epidermis. We even ate some of the delicious honey.  Then, the thirty foot palm trees needed to be desperately trimmed.  Again, my instinct was to call a professional.  But, to Hubby, again, no big deal.  In a t-shirt with the sleeves cut off, there he was, up on the ladder, ripping the branches down with, no, not a tree trimmer, a harness strap he uses for his dirt bike.  He's like my own little McGyver.  Now, there is a leak underneath the floors in the kitchen.  But I guess I won't worry about it because Husband's on it.  So do you see, how I can just sit back, worry relax and let the man do his magic?  Frankly, I don't know how I would survive without him.

How adorable! My bf is the same way. He set up a sprinkler system in our yard earlier this year, made a desk in about 20 minutes for the garage, built my son a bunk bed in an afternoon and fixated a trash stopper for the dog. God love manly men!

This post totally made my day! Thanks goodness for great hubbies :) Good to know he didn't get attacked by bees or fall off the tree. That would have been very bad.

Ok I ALWAYS say the same thing! If something ever happened to the hubs I don't know how I'd survive! I don't know if I could watch him smoke out a beehive though! Aaah!

Way to go hubby!! I'm thoroughly impressed about the smoke out trick. I'll have to tell B that one, then the next time we have a bee hive round our house he'll know exactly what to do :) (And the whole time, he'll think he came up with the idea all by himself!) Lol

You look great, my dear!

I'm sooo jealous! I love having a handyman with me! In A and my case, it's me whose more likely to be the MacGyver! Oh well, at least he spoils me with surprises and great dinners and trips! Guess I shouldn't be complaining so much...I know my place, and he knows his. ;D

Ha! This sounds EXACTLY like my husband. A few years ago I saw some bookcases at Crate & Barrel that I loved, and he was all like "I could build those." So he did. And they're awesome. Then, last month when our neibhborhood got hit with serious hail, and everybody else was calling professionals to replace their roofing/siding he said "there is no way we're paying for that. I could totally do it." And again- he did. Seriously, what is it with guys? Do they have some secret handy man knowledge that they're just born with?
