Sliding Doors

Jacket: Bar III; Shirt: BCBG; Skirt: B44 Core; Purse: Gucci; Belt: FreePeople; Earrings: Fracesca's Collections; Necklace: c/o JewelMint
Sometimes I have these sliding doors moments where I think:
What if I had taken a different direction; just one different turn?
How would my life be different?
I retrace the steps.
I rewind through the years.
Regrets are evident.
{But wasteful thinking.}
Rather - I find validation; reassurance.
If I had missed just one thing,
I might not be where I am today;
made the discoveries I have,
or known the people I've come to meet.
""
I think it's important to allow life to unfold before you,
just as it is meant to be.
To accept what it is.
That is the ultimate freedom.
""
There are circumstances that can't be controlled.
There are things about ourselves we cannot change.
And our sliding doors are only alternate realities of who we could be.
Who we are?
Well, that's up to you and me.

Love your blog! You take awesome pictures and hopefully I will be able to one day also! I use to have an awesome camera with a long lens but that was many years ago. Thanks for all of the inspiration! Great outfit!

I completely agree with you - thinking about regrets IS wasteful thinking. Even recently being laid off during the holidays it infuriated me but also made me stop and realize it wasn't what I wanted to do with my life anyways and I'm now I'm working on looking at a different career path.

Sometimes it is really easy to get caught up in the what if's.. but you're right. It's pointless. We have the now. And what we choose to do with that can change us forever.

P.S. Do you really take your own pictures??? I mean.. that's amazing!!!!

"Who we are? It's up to you and me". I love that.
It is interesting to have a 'sliding doors' moment though. There are thousands of possibilities to how a life can be different! Sometimes I wish mine could be different in a lot of ways though! Maybe that's normal.
By the way, have you ever seen that movie? With Gwyneth Paltrow? To me, it's not the best movie, but it's fun to see it and wonder 'What if...'

We are in control of our destiny, sometimes it doesn't go as planned but I think the unexpected moments are the ones that shape us, they make us stronger.Live life to the fullest!

Wow, that's kind of a deep blog post, I like it! I too have these moments (more out of fear) that if I had left the house 3 min. earlier something catastrophic could have happened. I quickly shake those thoughts off, because honestly there's not a damn thing I can do about anything in this universe. I am a control freak, who has come to terms with the fact that I control nothing :D

It's always fun to play around with sliding doors. Imagining the life you would've/could've had but always being grateful for the one you're living now.

Sliding Doors is one of my all-time favorite movies. I didn't know anyone else ever watched it. But you're right...just because things seem better if we took a different turn, doesn't mean they are. And, it all circles back to destiny in the end.

Love this! It's so easy to get caught up in the what if's as opposed to focusing on what is.
