That One Time

Shirt: c/o Lamixx; Wrap Bracelet: c/o Leelala; Skirt: (old) similar here and here; Jean Jacket: Yanuck (old) similar here and here; Hat: Forever21 (similar here); Watch: Juicy Couture; Sunglasses: RayBan; Shoes: Converse (Really want these and these)
Over the weekend, I had gone to grab dinner with a few girlfriends, and when I went to leave, I mysteriously couldn't find my car.  At first, I thought I was just having a blonde moment and, somehow, my scattered brain was overlooking it.  My car has to be here.  But it wasn't.  Suddenly, I went into panic.  "Ohhhmigosh, I think my car is stolen!!"  Frantically, I was walking around, searching, throwing out expletives.  My friend, who is much more logical than me, pointed out the option, "I bet you got towed."  Towed, I thought?  Well, right above the spot where I parked, was a small sign that explicitly stated, no parking.  Just another thing my scattered brain over looked.  So, I dialed the number for the car impound, and a male voice on the other end of the receiver, casually remarked, "Oh yeah.  Sounds familiar.  We've got that."   I quickly replied, "Well, you have just gone and ruined my night," and hung up the phone.  I had plans you know.  Like to go home and snuggle up to watch a chick flick with my two dogs.  Fortunately, my good friend Melissa had my back, and drove me into the scarier part of town, at 10:00 at night.  The impound was difficult to find because there were no signs and no lights in the pitch black of night, but eventually, we found our way.  After I paid his fee to get my car back, he walked my friend and I through a graveyard of beat up cars.  And there she was.  Shining idly underneath the moonlight in a dirt lot,  feeling violated, or maybe it was me.  But I jumped inside and drove away as quickly as I could, regretting the fact that I just paid $120 for a parking spot.  If I had know I was going to throw my money away that night, I would thrown it away more wisely.  Like on that pair of RayBan's I've been lusting after.  Oh well, tis life.

Don't you just hate when that happens!! Atleast it was only $120, last time I got towed it was $300, and they wanted cash. (I'm sorry, you want me to carry CASH in THIS neighborhood.) Crazies.

Oh I agree with the other girls, $120 is not that bad, but I do agree that new glasses would be a lot better! Sorry you had to go through that!

I've been there too, girl! It sucks - although when my car got towed I had to pay $300 to get it back :(

Love this look - I saw it floating around Pinerest this morning :)

UHG too bad about your car - I had the same panicky feeling happen to me last year, except my car really DID get stolen. In broad daylight. In downtown Chicago. With a car full of new Christmas clothing/shoes...be thankful you found yours!

Sad day, that's the worst! Especially since your first instinct is that it was stolen! Not that it is much more fun to have to pick it up from a dump and pay $120! Sorry...!

Love your jean jacket and Converse shoes!

Rachel

im glad you got it back and it wasn't actually stolen - although $120 for nothing is no fun. hate that.

It does suck to get towed. But I love the outfit. I'm glad the jean jacket is back. Comfortable and cute.

How frustrating is that? There is nothing worse than spending money on something as silly as that- but you win some and you lose some- at least you looked damn good that night! :)

What a scam, Katie. 120 bucks? That makes me mad. Two years ago I was spending the night at my sister's place in Scottsdale when we heard loud thumping noises outside...I ran out and my poor car was being loaded up to be towed. I started screaming and the guy told me he wouldn't tow it if I gave him 50 bucks cash on the spot. At 2 am. He also suggested I hurry as the towing process really screws up your wheels and base etc. Luckly my sister spotted me the money and he dropped my car back on the ground. My wheels were locked the next morning as a safety precaution from theft...so I spent the next day dealing with audi roadside services.

But the outfit is cool. I'm still working up the nerve to wear my chucks with a skirt. Mine are grey too...I'm thinking hot pink to offset.

Oh my gosh, this totally happened to my best friend! We met up and I drove to dinner, when we got back her car was GONE! We called 911 and reported her stolen car..... and then a few minutes later we saw a sign stating she'd parked in a tow zone. Uh oh. So we googled the dispatch phone # and told them we were idiots and her car probably wasn't stolen, ha ha. It cost her 250! TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS! Ah! My best friend's husband died 2 years ago and if there was ever a time to pull the widow card, that would've been it! Robbery, I tell ya!
